Are you building a new control room and wondering if you should build it with parallel walls or angled walls?
You’ll often read after all that angled walls will remove room modes and avoid flutter echo.
Why? Because room modes only build up between parallel walls, and angled walls will direct any reflections away from the listening position.
Of course in reality this isn’t actually true, and especially if you are working on a budget, you should consider other factors as well.
In this video I’ll explain why I think you should Keep It Simple Stupid (KISS) and I’ll show you a test for flutter echo that is just as easy but far better than clapping your hands next to your head.
Sure, you could do that.
Couldn’t you just record yourself clapping and then play that recording thought the speaker to do the test?
Hi Jack, absolutely, there is always hope! 🙂
Hi Jesco
I am just beginning to build a studio. The only room I can use has two end walls that are slanted . They go straight up about 4.5 Feet then slant to the ceiliing. It is a small room 8′ x 13 ‘
With the slanted walls I only have a 6 ‘ long ceiling. Once my monitors arrive I will do the base test in the corner as you suggest. Is there any hope for me in this room?
